WEB SEARCHES - Refine your web searches by including the County in which your party/function/wedding is taking place. Searching for "wedding bands" or "function bands" or "party bands" or "find a band for my wedding or party or birthday etc" or "bands for hire" or "live bands for hire" brings up far too many results most of which will be scattered all over the UK and the rest of the world. Incidentally, when searching don't use the "pages from the UK" button or you may miss finding many top bands who have a .com website instead of a .co.uk website.  You can refine your search much more effectively if you go to the bottom of the Google search results page, click on "search within results", type the County (capital letters are irrelevant in web searches) and hit the Return key. You won't need to do this if you type in a more specific search phrase to begin with. There is not much improvement if you use search phrases like "surrey wedding bands", "surrey function bands", "wedding bands in surrey", "function bands in surrey", "wedding entertainment in ..." or "wedding music in ... surrey, hampshire, hants, berkshire, berks, sussex etc". The results begin to improve if you include the phrase "band for" in your search.  For example "band for wedding in ..." or "band for corporate event in surrey (or hampshire, hants, berks, sussex etc)".  Even more information produces even better results. If you want a live band rather than a duo or trio you should try something like "live band for wedding in ...", "live function band for wedding in ...", "live wedding function bands in ...", "live wedding bands in ...", "live party bands in ..." or "live band for party in ... surrey, hampshire, hants, berkshire, berks, sussex etc".  It will also help to narrow down your search if you use more words to describe the type of event.  For example you could try "live band for wedding reception in ...", "live band for birthday party (or even birthday bash or knees-up!) in ..." - possibly include the age because a band for a 50th or 60th or 70th birthday party might not be suitable for an 18th or 21st birthday party.  You can be very specific about the type of event "live function band for retirement party in ...", "live pop band or covers band for family reunion in ...", "live band for engagement party in ...", "live band for bonfire party or fireworks party or firework night or fireworks night or november 5th party or bonfire night party in ...", "live band for halloween party in ... surrey, hampshire, hants, berkshire, berks, sussex etc".  If the function is for a particular type of club or society you could try including phrases like "Masonic Ladies Night" "Masonic Dinner Dance" "Round Table" "Royal British Legion" or "British Legion" "Working Mens Club" "United Services Club" "Conservative Club" "Liberal Club" or anything else which you think may find bands who regularly play at functions and events held by such establishments.  To reduce the results still further you could try including a nearby town (not a village, that's too specific!) aswell as the County e.g. "function band or live band for wedding reception / 50th birthday party / corporate entertainment / etc near ..." e.g. guildford, farnham, chobham, farnborough, yateley, dorking, reigate, redhill, leatherhead, kingston, twickenham, epsom, sutton, cobham, walton, weybridge, esher, hampton court, chertsey, camberley, basingstoke, bracknell, maidenhead, slough, reading, high wycombe, aylesbury, amersham, henley, hemel hempstead, dunstable, newbury, ascot, alton, haslemere, cranleigh, crawley, horsham, petersfield, midhurst, chichester, portsmouth, winchester, ringwood, salisbury, andover, bournemouth, bognor, worthing, brighton, sevenoaks, maidstone, canterbury, tonbridge, tunbridge wells etc. etc. followed by the County e.g. surrey, berkshire, berks, hampshire, hants, sussex, east sussex, west sussex, e sussex, w sussex, e.sussex, w.sussex, bucks, dorset, beds, kent, middx or middex or middlesex, london etc. but leave out "on thames", "upon thames", "on the hill" etc. So you might search for "wedding bands near weybridge surrey". If you know the type of band you want e.g. pop, covers, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s, blues, rock, jazz, swing etc. it would be worth trying another "search within results" to see if this finds your ideal band. Please let us know which searches worked best for you as it is very helpful to get this kind of feedback.
